ANCIENT THAI YOGA
MASSAGE THERAPIES

by Kali

Thai Yoga Massage is usually given without the use of oils – it is performed upon the floor on a futon.(See Below)There is no need to remove your clothes although loose fitting garments are recommended. Thai Massage combines the benefits of yoga stretches, loving touch massage, acupressure, and shiatsu.

The body is gently and rhythmically rocked and stretched, through ranges of motion, the acupressure and reflexology points are kneaded and pressed, and energy meridian stimulated which is all applied in a form of passive yoga. Joints are loosened and opened through anipulation and peripheral stimulation, muscles and tendons are stretched, releasing painful contractions and clearing energy blocks. The internal organs are toned, vitality is increased and a deep state of relaxation can be achieved. The essence of the massage is very meditative, enabling both the client and practitioner to voyage together into deep realms of consciousness. The whole massage is a meditative dance and given in prayer. As well as being physically therapeutic this is powerful energy work, kali is a renown healer and finishes each session with connective healing, toning or a Tibetan fire purification. The healing effects can be felt for a long time after each session so do allow time to rest and process the effects of your session. The benefits of Thai yoga massage are immediate both physically and spiritually.

Herbal Compresses
Samunprai
(Thai hot herbal poultice) Great for muscular injuries aches and pains lowered immune systems or sluggishness. Herbal compresses are frequently used in Thailand in conjunction with traditional massage. Hot compresses are used for treating chronic problems such as back pain, tendonitis, and internal diseases, as well as to increase energy flow, improve circulation, relax muscles, and stimulate nerves.

Hot compresses provide the same type of stimulation as acupressure, and are used to stimulate tender or sensitive areas that can not be massaged directly. (For example, in therapy of back pain, the back may be too painful for direct acupressure, but hot herbal compress on the same points will provide similar benefits.) Typically, a masseur will not limit the compress to the area of injury or disorder, but will also work on acupressure points throughout the body to stimulate and relax the patient, and to promote the body's natural processes. Steam bundles may also be dipped lightly in room-temperature olive oil before application in order to moisturize the skin.

Herbs commonly used in herbal compresses are listed in the chart below. Any or all of these herbs can be added to the compress, but typically, at least one from each category would be included. In addition to those listed, other therapeutic plants, such as anti-parasitic or anti-fungal herbs, are added to treat specific conditions. Kali has added special Australian Healing Plants to these packs plus some Native American Herbs.. Her herbal pack are simply amazing!
